The gold is gone! The jewels are too! An Auction House Robbery seems to have gone well for a gang of thieves who have made off with rare coins, gold and jewellery. Later that day, the security guard from the Auction House is attacked on his boat and the police need the help of the forensic scientists to track down the suspects and recover the stolen items. But when they are arrested, the gold is nowhere to be found. What on earth happened to the stolen goods!?
Your school’s hall, gym, or double classroom will be transformed into a crime scene and evidence lab as your students are taken on an engaging, hands-on experience. Acting as both forensic scientists and as detectives, your students will use their creative and critical thinking skills to analyse the forensic evidence and piece together the story.
Our incursions cover a broad range of science curriculum and general educational points. These include talking to students about when and how you should report a crime.
Stage 2 and 3 workshops cater to a maximum of 80 student per session. Stage 1 workshops cater to a maximum of 60 students per session.
The length of the workshop is flexible to fit around your bell times. Our sessions run for 60 – 90 minutes and we can run up to 4 sessions a day.
The workshop can be run in most indoor venues. We will need access to power and 13 trestle tables or equivalent. Your presenter will need access to the room 90 mins before the first session to set up.
Our workshops were developed by scientists in collaboration with university forensic departments to ensure the content is scientifically accurate. These programs are aligned to the national curriculum and ACARA learning outcomes, please see files below for specific details.
